My initial plan is to take the Harken job, starting us on Lian Jiun and taking us to Regina. That should help get us started, although the trip itself will take two days of play.

I'm also going to discard most of these missions, especially the immoral one, probably keeping just the Patience one.

Nice work grabbing the Ammon Duul job! Feel free to put my entire share of the profits into upgrading the ship - the cash doesn't appear to do anything for crew until we hit the retirement target, and I'd rather be spending money to make money.
I have zero familiarity with the board game, but it seems like being Moral has no direct in-game benefits except maybe Bounty Hunting (which uses the same color text in the OP)? Maybe if we can reach the Hill Folk bonus, or just specialize in something well enough, that will be a solid source of cash in the late game.

Yes I agree, my current plan is getting one more hill folk and running a bounty operation once we have upgraded the ship.

Day 1
Jun 2, 2015 17:19:53 GMT
Post by Langly on Jun 2, 2015 17:19:53 GMT
while we're waiting on the others to show up, we need to get a discussion going about timing.
I'm looking at jobs being dumped, as well as the ones we started with, and the thing we have to keep in mind is the amount of money we have to make, and the amount of time it will take to get those jobs completed.
If lucedes ends up joining the crew, we will have four people on the ship. That means we need a total of 20k in order to all retire successfully. That's a goodly sum of money. Since it seems like we can only complete one job a day, the obvious impulse is to only take super high paying jobs. We need to make sure however that the job is able to be completed in a single series of actions. While we might not have experience with the board game, there's nothing to stop us from brainstorming how we might anticipate job requirements. One thing that seems to be common is Cargo, and Passengers.
Can cargo be acquired in advance? If so, how much does it cost? Can we think about getting a surplus of cargo so that we can finish shipping jobs in advance?
The current plan for the next two days:
Start in Ariel, immediately complete the Ariel job. Move one space for free to Bellerophon. Pick up the passengers, take them to Albion to complete the other job I picked up today. Without an enhanced drive, this will be the first time we can't complete a job in one night, as my next preliminary job is the Patience one that requires us to get to Jyianyang, more than five spaces away. We need to consider taking another job or possibly finding a way to get there.
The other option is:
Ariel -> Bellerophon -> Albion -> Santo, and start the job on Santo. This requires a firearm and transport. I am not sure how to get either of those, but if we can do it, it would mean that we can possibly make our way to jiangyin and complete two jobs while we are there. Need more information, though.

Oh, I assumed that Parts meant unique ship ugrades or consumable items or something. My bad OP lists Firearm as one of those things attached to Gear and certain crew, and Transport is probably the same deal. Unless our new members happen to have them, I think we'll need to see what upgrades are available and affordable before we know whether the Santo job is feasible.

Ok I got a little more information on how misbehave works.
It's basically like a hidden skill test. Instead of knowing beforehand which skill will be rolled on, there are two optional skills that jadark will roll on (he chooses the best odds for us, so for instance if we had negotiate and tech options, he would choose negotiate)
Lucedes has officially joined the crew and guess what her skills are Negotiate, negotiate which is fucking hilarious.

So tonight we are doing the Ariel job, starting in Ariel. With Lucedes' additional negotiation I anticipate a windfall of 2,800, and moving us to bellerophon to start the other job.

We definitely want to avoid immoral jobs, with multiple moral people the payout just wouldn't be worth it.
Illegal jobs seem to have a much higher payout, as much as 3-4x the legal jobs if you can't stack a skill bonus. Preying on the ships that operate the illegal/immoral jobs in order to claim bounties and their 'stuff' may be very profitable if we can thusly claim the profits from such jobs without sullying our hands on them.
